Elandsfontein
Elandsfontein is a suburb of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa. Elandsfontein was purchased for the mineral rights. The entire area was one farm called Elands Vontyn-later known as Elandsfontein- which belonged to the South African government until it was granted to GPL van der Linden in 1867. Elandsfontein was later subdivided into smaller farms and smallholdings, many of which were settled by retired miners. The entire area became known as Geldenhuis Estates Smallholdings. The Voortrekker Fort situated on the farm, Elandsfontein, was constructed by the Voortrekkers.
