How do I prepare my car for auto shipping?

There are a few things you need to do that will help with a smooth auto shipping experience. Here are eight things you need to do before your car is picked up for delivery by an auto transport company.

Wash your car

Dirt and dust will hide scratches, dings, and dents. Before you have the auto transport company collect your car, have it washed properly. It’s easier to see possible damage when the shipping process arrives at its destination.

Clean the inside of the car

During transport, it’s a given that your car will be jostled a bit. To avoid things being tossed around in your car, clean the interior, and remove everything that isn’t secured. This includes air fresheners and loose change.

Disable the alarm

It may seem obvious but there is nothing worse than a car alarm going off during transit. The truck driver would have to endure the blaring car alarm and struggle to focus on a very important

 Do not fuel-up

Since you will not be driving your vehicle, there is no need to fill up before loading. Having a full tank of fuel will make your car heavier. Added weight adds risk to the shipment of your vehicle. Leave as little fuel in your tank as possible when preparing your vehicle for transportation.

Check for leaks

Before your truck gets loaded, check the undercarriage for potential leaks. If there is a serious leak then the car carrier company will refuse service.  If you see a leak, get it sorted before delivery.

Check tire pressure

Check tire pressure as under-inflated or over-inflated tires are as risky driving as they are on a car transporter. If your tires are not properly inflated, you could be increasing the risk of tire damage.

Remove custom accessories

Make sure to remove any custom parts or accessories before loading it onto your truck. These things risk being damaged and we will not be liable for the damages.

Lock the car

Once your car is loaded onto an auto transporter, there’s no reason for it to be opened until it is delivered.
